Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of hair-fine stainless steel needles into the body to restore balance and achieve optimal health.

It is important to remember that acupuncture
is a process.  While some people do respond very quickly to their treatments, for most it takes a series of 6 to 10 sessions.

Remember, if your problem did not happen over night, it probably  will take some time to reach your goals.

The acupuncture needles work  to communicate or access your body's own resources, directing the body to heal itself.  Each treatment builds on the previous one, so it  is important to be as consistent as possible.  That being said, acupuncture is not for  everyone.  You should notice some change, though it may be small and subtle, within the first couple of treatments.

Communication is also key.  Keep track of how you are doing and share that with me at each treatment so that I can continue to adjust  your therapy to meet your needs.

How does it feel?:

Most patients feel no pain at all.  Some feel a little pinch where some of the needles are inserted.

How long does it take to work?:

It depends on several factors:  How long the problem has been around and what stage it is in; an individual's healing capacity; how involved patients' are in their  healing journey.

For most chronic disorders, I recommend a series of 6-10 treatments.  Patients come in for treatments on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.  While it may take some time to achieve an individual's treatment goals, some changes should be noticeable in the first few treatments.
